Taking a darker approach to an earlier release, Umbro once again partner with Manchester musical titan New Order, this time for a blackout collection that picks up where the previous ‘Madchester’ capsule left off.
Back in May last year Umbro partnered with New Order and Factory Records for the 'Manchester Collection' which commemorated the 90s and delivered a uniform for those dedicated to music and football with a distinctly baggy swagger. For the New Order side of things there was a significant lean into the iconic England 1990 look, bolstered by the band’s theme of the time, World in Motion. Now the brand and the band are back at it, this time extending out the look for a mini capsule that’s been drenched in darkness.
The Umbro x New Order blackout collection includes two short-sleeved styles, two long-sleeve options and a knitted cap. The New Order Blackout football shirt features Umbro’s iconic all-over jacquard pattern in a sublimation print, made famous on England’s 1990 World Cup trio. The shirt also has England ’90 woven tape along the sleeves and is emblazoned with an Umbro logo, ‘World In Motion Globes’ motif on the chest, and the New Order logo at the nape of the neck at the back. All logos and motifs throughout the capsule collection appear in tonal black. The second short-sleeve option is the Celebration Tee, and it has a 1990’s boxy fit, an oversized crew neck and New Order Globes, band logo and Umbro motif on the front chest.
